Papa, Mama, Why Did You Abandon Me?

I was once heard that children are a gift from God, thus, it needs special love and care.

But abandoned Children are scattered everywhere.

You can find them mostly on streets, roaming around begging alms, playing with friends or chased around by the authorities.

You will see some of them in their earliest years already working as shoe shine boy, newsboys, car wash boy or just simply manning parked motors and vehicles while waiting for the owners to come and shell out some coins for their unsolicited efforts.

The case of child abandonment is a global problem that tends to grow everyday rather than being addressed. The statistics will show us how ugly things are turning bad to worst.

Abandonment is the act of giving something up, Withdrawing support or help despite allegiance or responsibility. It is the worst scenario, when one or both of the parents abandon their parental responsibility.

Immediately, when the father or mother left the child, he is deprived of love and care, he lost protection and becomes vulnerable from abuse and attack, the psychological damage will surely take its tool as the child grows older, the sense of longing deepens as they compare themselves with others who has their parents.

The child will grow without proper education and discernment of what is right or wrong, they will become a mockery to other people they mingle everyday. They are victims and innocent, but the society will consider them rebellious and unwanted. We cannot solely rely on other people to take good care of our children.

The "Kindness of Strangers Theory" is not always applicable, as some of them victimizes on any known abandoned child. Child prostitution is the most common ending of an abandoned child or child enslavement, but to some, the end is early death. The lucky ones end up in a new family and grow as normal person, but not everyone is as lucky as the other.

Child abandonment was cause by different reasons like poverty, early pregnancy, separation, irresponsible parents, sickness, etc. The government on its part is doing everything to help the abandoned children but still it is not enough as the case is growing day by day. There is no even clearer laws and punishment for this kind of offense. The abandoned are really helpless and in hopeless case.

Unless the parents involve will open their hearts and mind on their undenying responsibility, child abandonment will never be ceased. It may be the last resort for parents to solve their domestic, monetary or marital bickering, but they have to consider the future of their God given children.

I know how it feels to be an abandoned child, because I am one of them.
