The latest tragedy happens in the Philippines, when PAGASA announces the arrival of tropical depression "Ondoy" (international name Ketsana) continuously moving toward central and northern Luzon Friday, September 25, 2009.

On Saturday morning, heavy rains brought by tropical storm 'Ondoy' flooded parts of Metro Manila, creeks are starting to overflow causing heavy traffic in some major streets, domestic flights have been canceled, classes, business and traveling were suspended, evacuations already started in several affected areas.

Thousands of people fled their homes, Swollen creeks forced many residents in some communities on to the roofs of their homes. Some residents are already calling for help pleading, "Help, we are now drowning here". Before noon Saturday, several parts of EDSA became impassable to motorists as heavy rains pounded Metro Manila.

Flood waters have exceeded six feet in some low-lying areas, electric and water pumping station has been shut down, rendering parts of the city powerless and waterless.

The government has placed 25 provinces and Metro Manila under a state of calamity. Six hours of continuous rains caused the water level to rise 341 millimeters, the most in recorded history for Metro Manila.

Video footage's shows the rushing waters carrying cars parked along the streets. People floating with their cars as vivid as daylight. People crying not only for safety and food but because their love ones are carried away by the raging flood water. They toiled for years to build their home and other belongings but in a day they lost everything. It will really breaks your heart.

Donations started to flow from almost everywhere through the Red Cross and other leading government institutions. Even cyberspace was flooded by calls for any assistance as death started to rise. Symphaty rises from all walks of life.

In its 11 a.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said storm signals in all areas had been canceled.

Ondoy's wrath left over 300 death as of Tuesday evening, and still counting, as 23 others are still missing, affected almost 340,000 people, caused damage worth P3.17 billion to agriculture and P1.52 billion to infrastructure. Both rich and poor suffered from Ondoy's wrath.
